FAITH IS NOT…

Then Satan entered into Judas called Iscariot, who was one of the twelve; he went away and conferred with the chief priests and officers of the temple police about how he might betray him to them. They were greatly pleased and agreed to give him money. So he consented and began to look for an opportunity to betray him to them when no crowd was present.  Luke 22:3-6

1 ATTACKING those who bother me.

A dispute also arose among them as to which one of them was to be regarded as the greatest. But he said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those in authority over them are called benefactors. But not so with you; rather the greatest among you must become like the youngest, and the leader like one who serves. For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one at the table? But I am among you as one who serves. Luke 22:24:27

2. GETTING NOTICED most prominently.

“Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.” But he replied, “Lord, I am ready to go with you to prison and to death.” Jesus answered, “I tell you, Peter, before the rooster crows today, you will deny three times that you know me.” Luke 22:31-24

3. CARELESSLY DECLARING my faith commitment.

KEY THOUGHT

FAITH IS… being WILLING TO DO what God is WILLING.

Series Memory Verses

Without faith, it is impossible to please God. Hebrews 11:6

We walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7

PASSING THE DAILY TESTS OF FAITH.

He knelt down and prayed, saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him. And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground. Luke 22:41-44

  • ASK for what I want.

Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me.

  • ALIGN my desires with God’s desires.

…nevertheless

  • ACCEPT his will as my highest joy.

nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.
