How to choose life with your words
1. Vow to tell the truth.
Let your "Yes" be yes, and your "No," no. - James 5:12
The tongue that brings healing is a tree of life, but a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit. - Proverbs 15:4
Telling the truth pleases God .
The LORD detests lying lips, but he delights in men who are truthful. - Proverbs 12:22
Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so God can heal you. - James 5:16
Telling the truth keeps you out of hot water.
Truth stands the test of time; lies are soon exposed. - Proverbs 12:19
An evil man is trapped by his sinful talk, but a righteous man escapes trouble. - Proverbs 12:13
2. Listen before you speak.
Fools think they need no advice, but the wise listen to others. - Proverbs 12:15
A prudent man keeps his knowledge to himself, but the heart of fools blurts out folly. - Proverbs 12:23
Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is found in those who take advice. - Proverbs 13:10
3. Choose your words carefully.
Careless words stab like a sword, but wise words bring healing. - Proverbs 12:18
Choose kindness over correction.
He who guards his lips guards his life, but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin. - Proverbs 13:3
When words are many, sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise. - Proverbs 10:19
Choose blessings over cursing.
Bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. - Luke 6:28

4. Fill your heart with good things.
The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks. - Luke 6:45
