22 Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. 23 After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone, 24 and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it. 25 Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. 27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” 28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” 29 “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” 31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” 32 And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. 33 Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.” 34 When they had crossed over, they landed at Gennesaret. 35 And when the men of that place recognized Jesus, they sent word to all the surrounding country. People brought all their sick to him 36 and begged him to let the sick just touch the edge of his cloak, and all who touched it were healed. Matthew 14:22-36 NIV
3 Truths Behind Every Storm
1. Jesus ALLOWS STORMS in my life.
22 Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. Matthew 14:22 NIV
2. Jesus PRAYS FOR ME during these storms.
23 After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone, 24 and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it. Matthew 14:23-34 NIV
3. Jesus WILL SHOW UP.
25 Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. Matthew 14:25-26 NIV
1. No matter how bad things look, I am never alone.

2. Big storms create opportunities.
28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” 29 “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. Matthew 14:28-29 NIV
“THERE ARE SOME THINGS YOU CAN ONLY ACCOMPLISH THROUGH RADICAL, STORM-INDUCED FAITH.
3. No matter the storm, Jesus can calm it.
32 And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. Matthew 14:32 NIV
Building With Attitude
“You can mark it down. The attitudes inside you are like a jack-in-the-box. When you least expect it, they will pop out and cause other people to like you or dislike you. Louder than the words you speak is the attitude that keeps telling people what you are really like.” -Dale Galloway

KEY TRUTH- I CAN’T CHANGE ALWAYS CHOOSE OR CHANGE MY CIRCUMSTANCES, BUT I CAN ALWAYS CHOOSE MY ATTITUDE.
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:2 NIV
Attitudes that Build:
Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; Philippians 2:3
Do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Phil. 2:4
Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Phil. 2:5-8 NIV
For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:9-11 NIV
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season; its leaf will not wither, and whatever he does will prosper. The ungodly are not so, but are like the chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore the ungodly will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly will perish. Psalm 1: 1-6 (MEV)
GOODBYE, OLD ME
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly
nor stands in the path of sinners.
nor sits in the seat of scoffers.
HELLO, NEW ME
-Planted by the rivers of water…
-Brings forth fruit, with green leaves…
-Prosperous all around.
-Envy and jealousy
-Love of Money
-Dreams that take me away from God.
• A life that will prosper
• To stay fresh and refresh others.
• To plant my life where God wants it planted.
BLESSED IS THE MAN… [whose] delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.
How do I get this good stuff in 2018?
• I make primary space for God’s word in my life.
Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Joshua 1:8 (NIV)
• I act on what God shows me.
Do not merely listen to the Word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the Word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like! But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does. James 1:22-25 (NIV)
